EXPERIENCE

Gallery Director, Umpqua Valley Arts Association, Roseburg, Oregon — 2013- to present

My duties as Gallery Director range from coordinating, promoting, curating, contracting artists and instructors and installing exhibitions at the UVAA galleries to assisting the Executive Director with aspects of grant writing and coordinating text and materials for grant proposals. I carefully handle the receiving and shipping of Artworks. I run meetings with a Gallery Committee where we engage together in the process of ideation and creation of exhibition schedule and programming for the Hallie Brown Ford Gallery. I coordinate and manage exhibitions in a total of six galleries equating to 36 shows per calendar year . I write prospectus’ for juried exhibitions, put out calls to artists and organize digital images and entries for jurors. I work closely with Artists and staff to maintain a professional atmosphere within the gallery setting. I also organize and maintain various administrative and budgetary aspects of the Gallery programming. Project Manage UVAA’s Summer Arts Festival and book over 130 artists and food vendors to sell and demonstrate their craft. 

Professor of Visual Communications and Fine Art; Umpqua community College, Roseburg, Oregon — 2007-2013

My duties as Professor of Art and Visual Communications range from face-to-face teaching to the development of curriculum and coordinating student exhibitions within the Art Department. I’ve designed and implemented curriculum for a Visual Communications Certification Program and have been a Leader in the development of a contemporary artistic discourse within the Fine Art Department the rural Community College Central Oregon. 

Gallery Coordinator Fellow, Laverne Krause Gallery; University of Oregon — 2008-2010

As Gallery Manager and Exhibition Coordinator my duties were to facilitate meetings with the Gallery Committees, organize juried sessions, advertise weekly shows and ‘call for entries’, manage and coordinate weekly exhibitions by assisting Artists with installations and their de-installs each week. The LaVerne Krause Gallery is a fast paced-environment where Professionalism, efficiency and clarity of vision is of the utmost importance.

Curator and Exhibition Coordinator, Whipple Fine Art Gallery, UCC — 2012-present

My engagement in the Curatorial Practice at the Whipple Fine Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College and at the Umpqua Valley Art Center in this past year has led to four innovative and contemporary Exhibitions here in Southern/Central rural Oregon. These exhibitions have displayed innovation and contemporary ideas in Art. 

Graphic Designer, Roseburg, Oregon — 2006 to present

I’ve been a Freelance Graphic Designer and Photographer. I’ve worked to brand the Fine Art Department at Umqpua Community College and the Oregon American Society of Foresters under the Bureau of Land Management. I’ve created brochures and logos for the various areas within the Art Department and have worked closely with business owners to brand their businesses. My duties as a Freelance Graphic Artist range from the creation of logos and websites to the design and layout of print material. I keep a strict organization system and portfolios in order to market my own business. I’ve done everything from post production photo editing, shooting events such as weddings, birthdays, and baptisms to marketing, keeping timelines, budgets, and working directly with clients to achieve the best quality outcome. I always give my very best no matter what I do. 

TECHNICAL SKILLS

I understand both design language and ideas of Contemporary Fine Art and can make decisions, which are grounded within not only a historical context, but are innovative, insightful and curious. I am proficient with both Mac and PC Operating Systems. I’m familiar with Adobe CC Suite. My experience as Professor of Art and Gallery Director has given me confidence and grace in working with Staff, Artists,  Administrators, etc.
